Survivor's Guilt—Making it Through the War

Survivor's guilt is a deep feeling of guilt often experienced by those who have survived a catastrophe that took the lives of others. Commonly associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), it is when a person feels guilty because they survived a life-threatening event that others did not survive. When misfortune strikes, and a person remains unscathed, they may be grateful. However, they also may feel a sense of guilt, questioning, "Why not me?"
